Sophie Calle sometimes defines herself as a "narrative artist". With the material of her existence, Sophie Calle plays the perilous, but always mastered, game of putting her fantasies into action. For the series L'Hôtel, she has become a chambermaid, photographing the unpacked suitcases and fragments of initiality hidden in these places of transit without the travellers' knowledge.
